Merry Christmas to all...

“I love those who can smile in trouble, who can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection. ' Tis the business of little minds to shrink, but they whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves their conduct, will pursue their principles unto death” Leonardo Da Vinci

Sadly, there are far too many people who can relate to this film. Too many times have they suffered the wrath of a dysfunctional friend or family member, who suffers from an addiction to drugs and/or alcohol. For some, they are horrified by the vulgarity, and use of expletives to convey the honest reality of the subject matter. These kinds of people do exist... We avert or eyes and our ears from the truth. We all know a bad drunk, and have witnessed the end result and experienced wrath of their psychotic behavior. We avert our eyes, and we look the other way; we excuse their behavior by saying "He or She is Drunk" , "It's None of our Business" we use these words as an excuse, yet behind closed doors, we expound on, and criticize in detail, what everyone else is thinking. We tuck the memory far away in the back of our minds, and we secretly see them in a different light. Sooner or later, we will take a brief nose dive into the same pool of delusion. For some, it is a one time thing!? I ask; have you ever accidentally gotten really Drunk? If you did, you will understand why I made this film, because you/we vowed to never do that again. Some will continuously find themselves in the same situation, over and over again. They just can't comprehend their addiction, as an illness. So, Let's raise awareness!

Struggling artist gave up his day job to be a filmmaker

A Struggling artist gave up his day job to be a filmmaker. Most would say that you're out of your mind. Probably right, but the passion is something that I can't let go of. I enjoy writing, shooting and editing. I don't always get it right, but regardless, I keep on doing what I do, and always finish what I start.

Don't get me wrong, I have training and experience in the industry, 20+ years, so I'm not delusional about how great I am, and head on down the yellow brick road, to a dead end wakeup call. I'm a finisher, I worked at the biggest post houses in Hollywood as a staff editor and post production supervisor for film and television. Freelanced as a Film Editor, On-Line Editor and Offline editor . I started producing because one day the producer didn't show up, I did the job so well, the rest is history.

It's bit harder on your own, you have to find money to support your ideas. It ain't easy because these days, everybody is a producer director. Forget about earning a title, or respect that comes with the title. I remember when the Panasonic AJ-100A and the Sony VX 1000 came out; the independent film community world went crazy, and the flood of home made gumbo cinema soup was born. I held to my guns with the DVW90 P Digi-BetaCam, went on to be trained with the Panavision Genesis, basically a beefed up Sony F950 with Specially made by Panavision prime lenses. Then came the Sony F55, and so forth... The Canon 5D MK II and the RED really changed everything!

Point is, a new industry evolved that made it affordable to shoot Quality low budget films, requiring less and less light, now a days 25000 ASA, with very little noise. I was told to create shape and form with light, the art of light a whole new chapter... I respect the great Film DP's out there, they are masters of the art. They set the standard for the world to follow. So owning an expensive camera and a set prime lenses doesn't make you a great DP.

For the story teller, it is a great medium to test the waters with your craft. Working with actors and pushing the limits of your imagination, without selling your organs to pay for it. I miss living in LA, it is my home. So many talented people who understand the importance of working together. Egos don't go far in LA, or anywhere else. Finding other talented people who have the same passion and drive to collectively work on project, that will help their career's in the industry as well. It's all about networking hands down...

Get your dream team together, and start walking the talk, you'll find your experience more rewarding when you realize that the collective contributor's to any project, will shine brighter, than the one on your own.

Drugs, Booze & Woes Teaser

I wrote this film...

I wrote Drugs, Booze & Woes to remind me of the crazy life, the cerebral journey to nowhere. It's about Dysfunctional people doing dysfunctional things, who end up in a Dysfunctional place. Be it in the bottle, or a line or two of coke, or a needle in their arms; it is a fast-lane to self destruction.

Drug & Alcohol abuse, denial and excuses, wears thin for repeat offenders. It is not easy to watch someone you know, or love, cash in the chips and go full in; because, it is against the grain, yet a reality check that this life does exist, and for most of us,  just one step from falling in ourselves.

I've been asked why! Why would you indulge in opening Pandora box? You know the outcome, there is no happy ending! The users using, and the abusers abusing. The daily merry-go-round of life at 2:00AM, Any City USA. The witching hour when it all starts. There is no 86 after 2:00AM, just a green light for overindulgence.

I want to take you into the minds of these characters, for you to experience the scratching on the blackboard, to dive into the bottle of Xanax head first, and to challenge your own psychologically, for just holding on, waiting for the ending of the film. Yes, there is a ending, and it has a message too, but the road there, is a ride.

I hope you will follow my film Drugs, Booze & Woes. And hopefully you will like it for creating awareness about a very serious subject. Warning there are a lot of expletives, because the nature of the subject matter requires a *uck and a *itch to reflect the lowest domination of delusional thinking.

My intention is to educate by example, and not take advantage of an opportunity to make a cool film about drugs abuse, or sensationalize those who have fallen victim, but to snapshot you right in the middle of it all, to show how F'ed up life can be, without notice.

Please watch my teaser (still a work in progress), and let me know your thoughts: if you felt disturbed by the story being told.
